North Coast Field Work 2024
Images from multiple archaeological projects on the north coast of BC partnered with Gitga’at Nation over the summer of 2024: a field course run through Coast Mountain College at the ancient village of Clamstown on Fin Island; survey and excavations on the Moore Islands - some of the outermost islands on the north coast of BC (excluding Haida Gwaii) - also partnered with Kitasoo-Xai’Xais Nation; and survey and core sampling of Gitga’at Reserves from the mouth of the Douglas Channel to the outer edge of Princess Royal Island.
Funding for this field work was variously provided by the National Geographic Society, the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada, a UBC Indigenous Strategic Initiatives Grant, and in-kind contributions from Gitga’at Nation.
