Travels

My true passion is travelling, and I have spent several years exploring the Middle East and Central Asia. This is a place for some of my favourite images and memories from some of my favourite places in the world…

Field Work

A place for photos of archaeological fieldwork that I have participated in across British Columbia and elsewhere.

Diatoms

Diatoms are single-celled algae with cell walls made of silica that forms beautiful and distinctive patterns. There are tens of thousands of different species of diatoms, and different species thrive in different environments. Because silica can often preserve well in sediments for thousands of years, diatom remains can be used as indicators of past environmental conditions. They serve as key proxies for my reconstructions of relative sea level changes in the past, here I provide photos of some of my favourites to serve as an incomplete guide for anyone interested.
